Goldie Blox
Remember that Super Bowl commercial from a few years back about the little girl engineers that went viral? It had four girls and they made a Rube Goldberg machine all through their house? That commercial that felt revolutionary to many was the product of a company called GoldieBlox.
Created by Debbie Sterling, the company makes engineering style toys that are specifically geared towards young girls. The company uses picture books, starring "Goldie Box", along side engineering toys to provide girls with a role model as well as a means to begin to innovate. Goldie Blox hopes to change the pink isle at toy stores, to give girls the toys that will inspire them to be the engineers of tomorrow. Alongside an incredibly successful commercial campaign, the company and its toys have become incredibly successful--which gives many women in STEM fields hope for a future with more girls in STEM. |
"We believe there are a million girls out there who are engineers. They just might not know it yet. We think GoldieBlox can show them the way." |
