As a result of the technology revolution, there is great occupational opportunity within Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields. Data shows us that women make up only about 20% of STEM majors in colleges, and consequently, only about 25% of the STEM professional field. Different campaigns, schools, and individuals have been using media to encourage girls to enter these fields. This project will present some examples of successful programs and campaigns, analyze their impact and discuss the significance of this movement as a whole. Perhaps this movement could mean greater things for women and media as a whole--maybe in becoming innovators, women can also create a better, more accurate image of femininity in the media.
